The following pages showcase a personal project I am working on for a client in Marina del Rey. It is important to note that this design work was done solely by me with absolutely no affiliation to Frank Gehry. In the summer of 2023, the client approached me with a potential project to renovate their one-story, 3,000sqf bungalow in Venice. The site is a prominent one, perched on a corner adjacent to Washington Blvd, a major corridor within West Los Angeles.
The client is open to embracing the quirkiness of the neighborhood and trying something new. I sketched out some ideas in a meeting to gauge a general approach for them to pick from. The fastest way I know how to express ideas is by hand drawing, so I decided to put pen to paper and show them how I would approach the problem. We have just submitted a permit set to the city for phase 1 of the project, which includes turning the back garage into an ADU.
